Watford Harriers was founded in 1925 and over the years has produced several international athletes. Its aim is to provide facilities for all ages and all abilities in all disciplines of the sport and has nearly 200 active members ranging in age from 7 to 90.
To this end the club is a member of several different leagues and together with its own promotions, county and regional events, can cater for all levels of ability. The club also works in partnership with the Leisure and Sports Department of Watford Council in promoting athletics in the Watford area.
The Track and Field base of the club is Woodside Stadium Garston and the Road Runners meet at Sun Sports and Casiobury Park dependent on the weather and time of year.
Watford Harriers is a member of the following leagues:
Chiltern Cross Country League Division 2
Southern Athletics Leauge Division 3
Eastern Young Athletes League
The club promotions include the Watford Half Marathon in February, the Junior Challenge in March and the Watford Open Graded Meetings which are held twice a month from April to September. Three special meetings are held at the beginning, middle and end of the track season to give the Under 11s competition.
The club has qualified coaches in the following disciplines
Long Distance, Middle Distance, Sprints, Hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump and Throws.
Tuesday 7pm Woodside Stadium, Garston. Senior distance, junior middle distance, sprints, high jump and throws.
Wednesday 7pm Sun Postal Sports Club, Cassiobury. Road runners (Road run or handicap race).
Thursday 7pm Woodside Stadium, Garston. Junior middle distance, sprints, long jump and throws.
Saturday 9.45am Senior Interval Session Cassiobury Park by the Lion King tree.
Sunday 8.30am Senior long run from Cassiobury Park & 10.30am Minors Harriers and general training Woodside Stadium, Garston.
